Doug Prentiss is President of Safety Services Company in Alachua Florida. He is a safety professional with over 30 years of experience. For 24 years he was the training officer for Gainesville Regional Utilities and one of the founding fathers of the Chlorine Program presented at UF/TREEO. He is an authorized OSHA Instructor in both construction and general industry, holding certification in the OSHA Training Institute for 500 and 501 courses. Mr. Prentiss has served on several committees for the Chlorine Institute, including the Health and Safety Committee, the Packaging Committee, and the CHLOREP Committee. He has also been a member of the Water Environment Federation Safety Committee since 1983 and was the event coordinator for the Operations Challenge Safety Event and Chairman of the Water Environment Federation Safety Committee. Mr. Prentiss is the current Chairman of the Florida Water Environment Federation Association Safety Committee. He has provided safety instruction for the Florida Water & Pollution Control Operators Association (FW&PCOA) schools since 1985. His hands on experience dealing with actual chlorine emergencies, hazardous confined spaces, and dangerous excavations provide a wealth of information and resources to provide a meaningful experience for course participants. |

Doug Prentiss Jr. is the newest addition to the Safety Services team. Doug served 10 years on active duty in the United States Air Force stationed in Southeast Asia and numerous state-side assignments. After spending his first few years on the flight line, he entered the classroom as an aircraft maintenance instructor. As an instructor he taught hundreds of men and women from around the world. His instruction included theory of operation for numerous aircraft systems, hands on maintenance practices, hazardous chemical handling, and safety standards. He also evaluated and critiqued students' progress on both academic and performance based objectives. During his service he attended numerous classes in record keeping, safety practices, and instructional techniques. Doug earned multiple degrees in Aviation Maintenance & Occupational Education, also receiving a Teaching Certificate for the Community College of the Air Force. Doug is currently serving as an Air Force reserve training manager stationed at Patrick AFB. He is continuing to serving in the education and training career field, and recently completed OSHA Training as an authorized OSHA outreach trainer. |
